Location : Marlborough, MA

Things to love about this trail :

  • Nice varied terrain
  • Cool Pond Views
  • Very well marked

Callahan State Park is another hiking gem of Eastern MA, which has a wide network of trails, and lots of options to make your hike as long or short as you want. Also has options for adding elevation gain, if you do the Gibbs Mountain Loop Trail.

One great idea if you want to get in a bunch of cardio, is to do a few rounds up and down Gibbs “Mountain”, on the Bay Circuit Trail.

I did this hike in early spring, on a relatively warm April day. Saw quite a few people, but nothing crazy.

Lovely diverse trail, which starts off with a pine forest feel:

Forest Bathing in the trees

Crosses a cute mini marsh on the way :

Fresh Green of Spring

Trail then goes through a meadow :

Wide Open Skies

And the highlight for me, was the adorable Beebe Pond :

Reflections

What also makes the trail unique is the numerous descriptive trail signs :

Signs have the trail names, plus directional info
